Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) Technical University of Catalonia

The UPC has been the first university in Spain to give an Engineer’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering. There is a Ph.D. programme of studies in this field, which has obtained the status of “Ph.D. Programme of Quality” awarded by the Spanish Agency ANECA. The Department also participates in the interdepartmental Ph.D. Programmes in Biomedical Engineering and Aeronautics and Space.

The departmental staff carry out their tuition and research tasks at the School of Industrial Engineering of Barcelona (ETSEIB), the School of Industrial Engineering of Terrassa (ETSEIT), the College of Industrial Engineering of Terrassa (EUETIT), the Technical College of Manresa (EUPM), the Technical College of Vilanova i la Geltrú (EUPVG) and the College of Industrial Engineering of Barcelona (EUETIB).

The personnel of the department performs technology transfer and innovation tasks at the following centres: the Plastics Catalan Centre (CCP), the Manresa Technological Centre (CTM), the Bages Technological Centre (CTB), the Light Alloys Design Centre (CDALTEC), Vilanova i La Geltrú Technology Centre (CTVG), the Centre for Biomedical Engineering Research (CREB) and the Centre of Structural Integrity and Reliability of Materials (CIEFMA).
